Fenwick Flossie
Fenwick Flossie is a groundhog mascot who has been predicting the weather, on or near Groundhog Day, in Fenwick, Ontario, since 1995.
Every year, Flossie emerges from her burrow at Centennial Park to large crowds of school children. If Flossie sees her shadow, then there will be six more weeks of winter. If Flossie does not see her shadow, there will be an early spring.
A coloring contest is often held, and the winners are announced at the ceremony.
After Flossie's prognostication, the kids get to meet Flossie and have hot chocolate and cookies.
Several hundred children usually attend the event.
Flossie's event is hosted by the Fabulous Fenwick Lions Club, a service club in Fenwick.
